Fender Dent or Indent

These are intentional indents that have been manufactured into the fender for various reasons. We are always happy to send out new parts to replace damaged ones, but in this case, the new fenders will have the same indents.

Of course, if there is any damage to the your fenders or bike, do let us know and we will take care of it right away.

Rear fenders normally have an indent on the chain side to allow the chain to pass without rubbing. This indent usually begins about one or two inches above the chain guard and continues down to the bottom of the fender.

The Front fender may normally have one, three, or no indents, depending on model. There are often two identical indents where the front brake arms move inward for stopping the bike (please see image below). Some of our bikes have fenders that have a divot in the center at the top near the head tube. This to allow for the addition of a bracket-mounted accessories like a reflector, light, or basket.
