We generally use an air compressor to remove the grips. If you have one, this would most likely be the best option, as the compressor will just blow the grips off.
If you don't have access to an air compressor, I've used a light lubricant such as WD-40 to help remove them. Spray a little underneath the grips, let them sit for a few minutes, and they should slide right off. WD-40 will dry over time, so your grips should return to normal.
