Yes, there was a provision in the Build Back Better infrastructure bill to give a tax credit of up to $900 for buying an ebike. Although this bill was passed in the House Of Representatives, the Senate voted it down, so the bill was not passed. However, there are plans to try to pass chunks of the bill separately, so maybe the credit will go into effect sometime in the future. We have no idea when that might be.
If you live in California, a bill was recently passed which will help subsidize an ebike purchase. This goes into effect around July 2022, and as far as we know, the details are still being hammered out. California has set aside $10 million to help individuals get ebikes and to promote ebike usage. California's SB 400 also has a program to help you get an ebike when you turn in a gas-guzzling car. If you live in another state, we would be happy to see if we can dig up any legislation that could help you out.
