The tire direction on your bike is not really important except for aesthetics.
So you will be just fine installing the wheel and tire in either direction. However, the preferred direction is can be determined either by
1.) installing the wheel so that the arrow on the tire sidewall rotates points forward or
2.) by simply installing the front wheel so that the direction of the tread pattern is the same as you see on the rear wheel.
Again, tire direction on a recreational bicycle is not a functional consideration, so you are safe installing the front wheel either way!
